Introduction

These instructions will create a web server running WordPress on your computer. At a minimum, you will need to install the Apache web server, the MySQL database, PHP, and WordPress.

These instructions assume the following:

Local Network Access

If local network access is required, use the IP address of the WordPress server during the installation. If WordPress will only be accessed from your local machine, use "localhost" for the WordPress server address. The difference is how you access WordPress:

Installation Steps

Step 1. Download, install, and configure XAMPP

Several things will be installed, including:

XAMPP console
Apache web server
MySQL database
PHP
and more

Step 2. Download and install WordPress

Note: You will need the MySQL database name and the administrator username and password from step 1.

Create A Website Using WordPress

After WordPress is installed and configured, login as WordPress administrator. For example:
